The UNDP Peace Building Project has launched an initiative for improving social cohesion in border communities in the north, the communities that host most refugees, namely in the region of Wadi Khaled. The work is aimed at educational sector and involves teachers, school directors, parent committees and parents of refugee students in Wadi Khaled. The aim of this is to integrate peace building into formal and non-formal educational channels.
Therefore, the consortium of companies, that comprises of “Center for Active Citizenship” c.c and” “…For Development” c.c., was contracted to carry out a peace building intervention with the main stakeholders that are involved in education in the region. Eighteen public schools were targeted and activities involved directly teachers, students, parents of students and school directors.
The objectives of the project are as follows:
1. Capacity building of 36 teachers, from 18 schools in Wadi Khaled, in order to be able to implement peace building activities at their schools, in reference to the “peace building and conflict resolution toolbox”.
2. To sensitize 78 individuals from the parent councils and school principals in Wadi Khaled on peace building.
3. To Support the diverse stakeholders in education (students, parents, teachers and school administrations) at the targeted schools in Wadi khaled to plan and implement joint inter-school activities.
في إطار جهوده لتعزيز ثقافة السلام وحقوق الانسان في لبنان، قام صندوق الأمم المتحدة للتنمية UNDP ،ومن خلال برنامج بناء السلام، بعدة مبادرات في لبنان، وآخرها مبادرة تعزيز التضامن المجتمعي في منطقة وادي خالد المتأثرة بالأزمة السورية والتي تشهد نزوحاً متزايداً للاجئين السوريين إليها.
استهدفت المبادرة تعزيز قدرات الجهاز التعليمي في عدد من المدارس الرسمية والخاصة، وشمل ذلك معلمين ومدراء مدارس ولجان الأهل في المدارس وأولياء امر الطلاب السوريين النازحين. وهدفت إلى استكشاف أدوات وطرق بناء السلام عبر القنوات التعليمية الرسمية وغير الرسمية.
الأهداف:
1. بناء قدرات 36 معلم من 18 مدرسة في وادي خالد بهدف تطبيق نشاطات بناء السلام في مدارسهم بناءً على دليل بناء السلام وحل النزاعات والذي كانت شركتي “…، للتنمية” و”مركز المواطنية الفاعلة” قد قامتا بتطويره خلال عامي 2011 – 2012 لصالح برنامج بناء السلام أيضاً.
2. إشراك 78 عضو من أعضاء لجان الأهل في المدارس في وادي خالد في بناء السلام.
3. دعم مختلف الهيئات التعليمية المعنية (التلاميذ، الاهل، المعلمين وادارات المدارس) في المدارس المستهدفة في وادي خالد لتخطيط وتنفيذ مشاريع وانشطة مدرسية مشتركة تجمع بين الطلاب اللبنانيين والسوريين وأهاليهم.
